Gustavo Cisneros was born in Caracas in 1945. He is the son of Diego Cisneros, founder of Cisneros.

In addition to his business activities, Gustavo Cisneros has dedicated a significant portion of his life to fostering relationships between Latin America, the United States, Spain and Portugal; as well as to promoting the advancement of education and democracy in Latin America. For these reasons, he has been the recipient of many awards and honors, including the Order of Isabel the Catholic of Spain, conferred on him by the government of Spain for his work in strengthening relations between that country and Venezuela.

Gustavo Cisneros is also a Knight of the Order of Malta, the Order of the Liberator in the First Degree, Gran Cordón – the highest honor given to a civilian in Venezuela – the Order of Andrés Bello and the Order of Francisco Miranda in Second and First Class, among others.

Mr. Cisneros received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Babson College, in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

He is married to the former Patricia Phelps. They have three grown children; Guillermo, Carolina and Adriana.
