Cisneros was founded in Venezuela in 1929 by Diego Cisneros. What began as a transport business soon diversified into other businesses, including television with the launch of the Venevision television channel in 1961. Gustavo Cisneros followed his father’s footsteps. He became CEO in 1968 and expanded into the areas of production and distribution. He acquired the Miss Universe pageant and became a founding member of Univision, thus centering the group’s focus on the Hispanic population in the United States and Latin America..
As part of NATPE 2015, Gustavo and Adriana Cisneros will be honored with The Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Award during the traditional awards ceremony led by Craig Ferguson, on 21 January at the Fontainebleau Resort in Miami. The Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Award was created to recognize a select group of TV professionals who demonstrate leadership, independence, passion and vision in the process of creating TV programs.
